Gethsemane- I only want to say

Gethsemane
I only want to say

It’s the best scene for me. Here we can see a sad Jesus when he is going to face the death. We see him alone, his head up to the sky and sometimes with his knees on the floor. The Gospels tell us that Jesus Christ talked to his Father in this way: Father, thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done¨. In Jesus Christ Superstar he makes his claim till make it unbearable. Glenn Carter gives us in this scene his best expression. Being it taken from up to the floor we realize who is his interlocutor, filling of drama the scene. However, this time Jesus shows all he divinity. In the last phrase he challenges his father saying ¨I will drink your cup of poison, nail me, to the cross and break me, bleed me, beat me, kill me, take me now before I change my mind¨
Don't you think that in these 5 words he is showing us that he is God? If He hadn't wanted to he wouldn't have died !!!

I must say that the Opera surprised me in showing this point, because I had the strong idea of a humble Christ who was completely sure of his Father’s plan: ¨Feel it burn me, I have changed, I’m not as sure as when we started¨, we read in the Opera lyrics.
